Baked Bitter Gourd Fries | Pavakka Mezhukuparetti

baked bittergourd

My husband and me both of us love bitter gourds a lot..And when it is this recipe,I don't know what to say.Its so good provided if u tolerate a slight amount of bitterness. It is good with steamed rice. I tried baking this up and am sure you will love these too.

Ingredients
bittergourd 3-4 round cut
turmeric powder 1/2tsp
chilli powder 1tsp
salt
oil 2 tbsp

Method

Cook the round cut bittergourds in a microwave safe bowl adding water (1/2cup) salt and turmeric powder for 5minutes. Drain the water and keep aside.

Preheat the oven at 350degrees. Line a tray with aluminium foil and sprinkle oil. Arrange the bittergourds and bake for 20-25mts. A light brown colour appears, flip the other side and bake for another 15 minutes, remove from oven. Its ready to serve with some steamed rice.

NOTES
* If you wish to try the fried version then add the cooked mix to a pan and shallow fry in oil.
* You can also add sliced shallots, thenga kothu(sliced coconuts) to this mix.
* If you prefer green chilli over red chilly powder then go ahead and add vertical sliced green chillies.
