Banana Bonda (wheat flour) | Kerala Chayakada Palharam | Wheat flourBanana Fritters

Tea time or snack time is an important meal as per kids are concerned.Kids demand newer varieties and I prefer the recipe should be a healthy one too.As for the recipe, many of us are aware with it ,banana bonda that we used to get in chayakada(tea stalls) in Kerala. They use all purpose flour but I used wheat flour instead and I added two teaspoons of sugar ;however you may delete the sugar part as its already sweet with banana..

Ingredients
wheat flour 1 cup
banana 3 mashed
sunflower seeds 1/3 cup (you can use any raisins or nuts)
baking soda 1/2 tsp
sugar 2 tsp (optional)
salt a pinch
oil (for deep frying)

Method

  • Sift the flour with baking soda and salt.
  • Blend the bananas with hand or mixer.
  • Mix all ingredients and make a thick batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan and pour the mix with a spoon into the boiling oil.
  • Pour 3-4 balls into oil and flip it both sides till it becomes brown.
  • place it on a paper towel and is ready to serve with tea.
Servings 15 fritters

NOTES
* I used regular dole bananas but you can use palamkodyan bananas(mysore pazham) to make this recipe.

Sending this to Radhika @ Tickling palates ,this month series theme snacks
