Vegetarian Kheema Mattar Fry | Soya Granules Stir fry

As you all know, kheema refers to minced meat..But dear friends, this is a vegetarian kheema matar recipe -very interesting one and for me it was another compliment from my elder one.His favourite is chicken and when I told him it was chicken thoran,he was just excited to grab it.To my surprise,he finished his meal early and told me "I think Mom,You can prepare this every day."

But, he actually doesn't know the ingredients and was tricked by his mom.The actual ingredient is none other than the soya granules. The recipe tasted so good like chicken or meat and a fat free ,cholesterol free recipe. If you like this recipe,do give it a try !!!

Ingredients
soya granules 3/4 cup
cabbage thin sliced 1/2 cup
onion 1 sliced
tomato 2 chopped
green peas 1/2 cup
green chilli 3-4
ginger 1/2'' piece cut shredded
garlic 3 cloves shredded
chilli powder 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
coriander powder 1tsp
garam masala /chicken masala 1tsp
fennel seeds 1tsp
mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
curry leaves
salt
oil 3tsp

Soya granules

Method
  • Boil enough water, add salt.Add the soya granules and cook until soft or cook for 10 minutes.Switch off flame, rinse the granules atleast 3 times under cold water,Squeeze the water completely and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a non stick pan, splutter fennel seeds(optional) and mustard seeds.
  • Add the onion, curry leaves and saute for 2 minutes.Add the shredded ginger garlic and saut till raw smell disappears.
  • Put the chopped tomatoes, cover and cook till its fully mashed.
  • Add the sliced cabbage and saute for 5 minutes.
  • Add the green peas and saute for a minute.
  • Add the cooked granules and saute.
  • Add all the spices and saute till raw smell goes.
  • Cover and cook for 7-8 minutes on medium flame.Add 1/2 cup water and enough salt.
  • Dry all the water content and is ready to serve.

Servings 3 adults

NOTES
* You can add 1/2 cup chicken stock instead of water if you are a non vegetarian to add more flavor.I have not used that, just a suggestion.
