I had a packet of oranges sitting in my refrigerator sadly, the reason being they were a bit sour.I planned to sort this out soon. So,my first thought was to make juice but as it was sour, but I knew kids wouldn't favor this..then I thought about this quick and easy halwa with fresh fruit.I had earlier prepared the Fruit halwa(apple -banana) and grabbed up all courage to try these. As it was a first attempt I tried initially with 6 oranges and they vanished in no time then gave a second try with the rest of the packet.I gladly state that there were no left overs after an hour:-)Unlike other halwas, this is rather very easy, simple & takes very less effort. The best way to increase your vit C intake too:-)
Ingredients
orange juice 1 1/2 cup(6 oranges)
corn flour 4 tbsp
sugar 3 tbsp (adjust as per the sweetness of oranges)
ghee 1tbsp
water 2tbsp
Method
-Wash and cut the oranges in halves and squeeze the juice.Strain the juice, keep aside.
-Heat ghee in a pan ,pour the strained juice in it on medium heat .Add the sugar and keep stirring.
-Let it come to boil, mix the corn flour with water and add it to the boiling juice.
-Keep stirring to thicken and till it starts to leave the sides of the pan.
-Grease a small plate with little ghee and pour out the contents in it and spread it evenly with a spatula.
-Leave it in the refrigerator for 1/2 -1 hour.
-Cut into desired shapes and enjoy!!
Servings~ makes 8 diamond pieces
NOTES
* You can adjust the ratio if you would like to make more in quantity.
* Adjust the sweetness as per the sweetness of oranges.
* Don't leave the pan unattended, keep stirring till the end otherwise it will stick to the bottom of the pan.
* You can leave it at room temperature to cool too,if you desire it in a hurry then refrigeration is a good option.
