Winters are real hard time to get over in the mornings especially when you feel to just wrap in the comforters or quilts.Schools are opening tomorrow after a 10 days fun time and our late night sleeps,late early morning wake ups are also ending,feeling sad..anyway got to get to the tight schedule from tomorrow.Anyways,coming back to the post,its Kerala style Drumstick curry.This is a very easy delicious curry that goes perfect with rice.I have tried this recipe from Jisha's Kitchen,Thanx Jisha for the recipe.Do give this a try & enjoy with rice!!!
Ingredients
drumsticks cut 10-12 pieces
onion 1 medium sized sliced
tomato 2 chopped
green chillies 5-6 vertical slit
turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
salt
to grind
coconut 1 cup grated/shredded
shallots 3-4
fennel powder 1/4 tsp
cumin seeds 1/4 tsp(optional)
turmeric powder 1/4 tsp\
garlic cloves 2
to temper
mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
red dry chillies 2-3
curry leaves 1 sprig

Watch on YouTube (this video is a similar one but uses raw mango instead of tomatoes and lentil is added to reduce the coconut usage, the rest of the steps is similar)
Method
Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.Add the curry leaves,followed by broken red dry chillies. Add the sliced onions and saute till translucent and lightly browned.Add in the chopped tomatoes and cook till its done.Add the drumsticks,green chillies,salt and turmeric powder.Add 1 1/2 cups water and cook covered for 13-15 minutes or until the drumsticks are cooked and tender.
In the mean time,grind the coconut,cumin seeds,fennel seeds,turmeric powder,shallots and garlic cloves.Make a smooth paste.Add this to the curry and cook on low flame for 5 mins (or till one or 2 boils appear on the surface).
Put off flame and serve warm with rice !!
Servings 2-3 adults
NOTES
* You can use fresh or frozen drum sticks.

@sweetlady yes,you can increase both turmeric powder & cumin powder to 1/2 tsp each if you wish:)
