Grilled corn without grilling?? Sounds interesting, right? This was the first time I tried out this way and otherwise whenever I buy fresh corn its usually cooking them in a pressure cooker with water and salt or microwave for 3 mins but this time I wished to have the charred ones that we usually find at street food stalls in India.Missed them badly!!That's how I recreated them on stove top, though you can always use the grill to get the same effect. This is a very simple recipe that anyone could try at home but on a gas burner stove. With the electric ones,I think you can place them in a pan and try.Probably may work out.Love this simple chatpata corn and a healthy snack too !!

Ingredients

chilli powder 1/2 tsp or as required
lemon juice 1 tbsp or as required
salt to taste
Method
- De husk the corn and remove the fibers or silk.Wash under running water, pat dry.
- Make a mixture using chilly powder, lemon juice and salt. (not thick, slightly watery)
- Switch on the stove and place the corn on it by piercing the tail end using a metal skewer so that its easier to turn all sides.(I used my puttu kutti(mould)'s metal skewer)
- You may hear cracks and pops in between(don't panic).Keep turning all sides evenly with the metal skewer intact. It may take approx 10 minutes to do one corn on medium flame.
- Remove from fire and rub the chilly mixture.Bite through and enjoy !!
looks so yum! healthy snack
